Sweet Dinner Rolls
Ingredients:
– 1 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
– 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 large eggs
– 4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup butter, melted (for brushing)
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Dough:**
– In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
– Add the melted butter, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
– Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
2. **Knead the Dough:**
– Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
– Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
3. **Shape the Rolls:**
– Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 24 equal pieces.
– Shape each piece into a small roll and place them on a greased baking sheet or lined with parchment paper.
4. **Second Rise:**
– Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until they have doubled in size.

5. **Bake the Rolls:**
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
– Brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter.
– Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the top of the rolls.
– Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
6. **Serve:**
– Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. They are best served warm.
