Savory Chicken and Mushrooms Recipe
Ingredients:
– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 tablespoon butter
– 1 large onion, diced
– 3 garlic cloves, minced
– 8 oz (about 225g) mushrooms, sliced
– 1 cup chicken broth
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
– Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Chicken**:
– Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
– In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and butter.
– Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes per side). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
2. **Cook the Vegetables**:
– In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
– Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes.
3. **Make the Sauce**:
– Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir well to coat.
– Slowly pour in the chicken broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
– Add the heavy cream, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
– Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, until it thickens.
4. **Combine and Cook**:
– Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.
– Reduce the heat to low and let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
5. **Serve**:
– Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
– Serve hot, over rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta.
