**Ingredients:**
– 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
– 6 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
– 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
**Instructions:**
1. **Cook the Bacon:**
– In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy. Remove the bacon pieces and set them aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
2. **Sauté the Onions and Garlic:**
– Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon fat and sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

3. **Cook the Cabbage:**
– Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine it with the onions and garlic. Cook the cabbage until it starts to soften, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. **Season and Finish:**
– Season with salt and pepper to taste. If using, add the apple cider vinegar and sugar for a touch of sweetness and tang. Stir to combine.
5. **Add Bacon:**
– Add the cooked bacon pieces back into the skillet and mix well. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and fully cooked.
