Ingredients:

– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 tablespoon white sugar
– 1 1/4 cups milk
– 1 egg
– 3 tablespoons butter, melted
– Maple syrup (for serving)

 Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Dry Ingredients**:
– In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

2. **Mix the Wet Ingredients**:
– In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
– Add the melted butter to the milk and egg mixture.

3. **Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients**:
– Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients.
– Stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.

4. **Cook the Pancakes**:
– Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
– Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.
– Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancakes and the edges look set, about 2 to 3 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook until browned on the other side, about 1 to 2 minutes more.
