Classic Banana Pudding
Ingredients:
– 1 (5 oz) package of instant vanilla pudding mix
– 2 cups cold milk
– 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
– 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
– 1 (12 oz) container of whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
– 1 (12 oz) box vanilla wafers
– 4 bananas, sliced
Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Pudding**: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, and continue to whisk until smooth. Fold in about half of the whipped topping.
2. **Layer the Ingredients**:
– **First Layer**: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, arrange a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom.
– **Second Layer**: Add a layer of sliced bananas over the wafers.
– **Third Layer**: Pour a portion of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
– Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of pudding.
3. **Top with Whipped Topping**: Spread the remaining whipped topping evenly over the final layer of pudding.
4. **Chill**: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.
5. **Serve**: Before serving, you can optionally garnish with additional banana slices or crumbled vanilla wafers.
