**Ingredients:**
– **200g (7 oz) dark chocolate**, chopped
– **1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk**
– **1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream** (for melting the chocolate)
– **1 cup (240ml) heavy cream** (for whipping)
– **2 large egg yolks**
– **2 tablespoons granulated sugar**
– **1 teaspoon vanilla extract**
– **Pinch of salt**
– **Optional:** Cocoa powder or melted chocolate for coating
**Instructions:**
1. **Melt the chocolate**: In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate, milk, and 1/4 cup of heavy cream. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
2. **Whisk the egg yolks and sugar**: In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture becomes pale and thick.
3. **Combine the chocolate and egg mixture**: Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
4. **Whip the cream**: In another bowl, whip the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream until it forms soft peaks.
