Cheesy Breadsticks Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheese sticks for easy filling)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Breadsticks:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or place cheese sticks along one end of the dough. Fold the dough over the cheese and cut into strips (about 1 inch wide).
- Pinch the edges to seal the cheese inside, then twist the strips gently to form breadsticks.
- Add Toppings:
- Place the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each breadstick with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
- Bake:
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot, with marinara sauce or a cheese dip if desired.
These cheesy breadsticks are soft on the inside with a crispy, flavorful crust. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or accompaniment to pasta dishes. Enjoy!
