Charcuterie Jar Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cheese cubes (cheddar, gouda, or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup sliced salami or pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup cornichons (small pickles)
  • 1/2 cup green olives or mixed olives
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary, parsley, or thyme)
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (optional for marinating)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes or black pepper (optional for a little heat)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes.
    • Slice the salami or pepperoni into small rounds if not pre-sliced.
    • Drain any excess liquid from the cornichons and olives.
  2. Layer the Jar:
    • In a clean, dry jar, start by adding a layer of cheese cubes.
    • Add a few slices of salami or pepperoni on top of the cheese.
    • Follow with a layer of olives and then a few cornichons.
    • Repeat the layers until the jar is full, ending with pickles and a sprig of fresh herbs on top for garnish.
  3. Optional Marinating Step:
    • If you prefer a marinated flavor, drizzle olive oil over the layered ingredients. You can add some crushed red pepper flakes or black pepper for a bit of spice.
    • Close the jar and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to let the flavors meld.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the jar as is for a convenient snack or pour the contents onto a serving board at a picnic or gathering.

These charcuterie jars are perfect for a portable snack, picnic, or party appetizer. They’re easy to customize with your favorite cheeses, meats, and pickled items. Enjoy!
