Broccoli Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced (optional for extra color)
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds or chopped almonds
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
For the Dressing:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Vegetables:
- In a large bowl, combine the broccoli florets, shredded carrots, chopped red onion, and red cabbage if using.
- Add the dried cranberries (or raisins) and sunflower seeds (or almonds).
- Make the Dressing:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey (or sugar), salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Combine the Salad:
- Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture and toss until everything is evenly coated.
- If using, gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Chill and Serve:
- Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve chilled, garnished with extra sunflower seeds or cranberries if desired.
Tips:
- You can add other ingredients like chopped bacon or hard-boiled eggs for additional flavor and texture.
