Ingredients:
- 1 cup cheese cubes (cheddar, gouda, or mozzarella)
- 1/2 cup sliced salami or pepperoni
- 1/2 cup cornichons (small pickles)
- 1/2 cup green olives or mixed olives
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary, parsley, or thyme)
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (optional for marinating)
- Crushed red pepper flakes or black pepper (optional for a little heat)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes.
- Slice the salami or pepperoni into small rounds if not pre-sliced.
- Drain any excess liquid from the cornichons and olives.
- Layer the Jar:
- In a clean, dry jar, start by adding a layer of cheese cubes.
- Add a few slices of salami or pepperoni on top of the cheese.
- Follow with a layer of olives and then a few cornichons.
- Repeat the layers until the jar is full, ending with pickles and a sprig of fresh herbs on top for garnish.
- Optional Marinating Step:
- If you prefer a marinated flavor, drizzle olive oil over the layered ingredients. You can add some crushed red pepper flakes or black pepper for a bit of spice.
- Close the jar and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to let the flavors meld.
