Almond Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
Servings: 12-15 cookies
Preparation Time: 15 minutes (plus chilling time)
Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
- Whole almonds (for topping)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Chill the Dough:
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight). Chilling helps the dough firm up, making it easier to roll and creating the signature crinkle effect.
- Shape the Cookies:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop a small amount of dough (about 1 tablespoon) and roll it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar until completely coated, then place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Add Almonds:
- Press a whole almond into the center of each cookie for decoration.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies have spread and crackled.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve:
- These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, with a dusting of extra powdered sugar if desired.
These Almond Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are soft, chocolatey, and have a lovely almond crunch on top. Perfect for holiday gatherings or any time you want a special treat! Enjoy!
