Spicy Dumpling Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- 10-12 dumplings (frozen or fresh, any filling of your choice, such as pork, chicken, or vegetable)
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil or vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar (optional, for tanginess)
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 cup spinach or bok choy, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add Broth and Seasonings: Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and water. Stir in the soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, and rice vinegar (if using). Bring the broth to a boil.
- Add Dumplings: Once the broth is boiling, carefully add the dumplings to the pot. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes if using fresh dumplings, or about 8-10 minutes if using frozen dumplings, or until the dumplings are cooked through and float to the surface.
- Add Vegetables: Add the mushrooms and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the spinach or bok choy and let it wilt in the hot broth.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the soup and add salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve: Ladle the soup into bowls, making sure to include several dumplings in each serving. Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro for extra flavor.
This Spicy Dumpling Soup is warm, comforting, and perfect for chilly days. The combination of flavorful broth, tender dumplings, and fresh garnishes makes it a delightful and satisfying meal. Enjoy!
