Cheesy Baked Quiche
**Ingredients:**
– 1 pre-made pie crust or homemade pie dough
– 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar, Gruyère, or your favorite blend)
– 1 cup milk or half-and-half
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 4 large eggs
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon or ham (optional)
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (for garnish)
**Instructions:**
1. **Prepare the Crust:**
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
– Roll out the pie dough and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Press it into the bottom and up the sides. Trim any excess dough. Line the crust with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the parchment and weights. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the crust is lightly golden. Set aside to cool.
2. **Prepare the Filling:**
– In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and heavy cream until well combined. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
– Spread the shredded cheese evenly over the bottom of the pre-baked pie crust. If using bacon or ham, sprinkle it over the cheese.
– Pour the egg mixture over the cheese and meat, making sure it is evenly distributed.

3. **Bake the Quiche:**
– Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the quiche is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
– Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
